Embracing Readymades and the Notion of Living Forever Essay Example for Free
Embracing Readymades and the Notion of Living Forever Essay It is a shared combination of works that is displayed throughout the museum, setting up conversation between the museumââ¬â¢s collection and Hirstââ¬â¢s contemporary art pieces. The relationship and connection between the works will give visitors a dialogue between the different works, engaging them in a conversation of art and science between the past, present and future. Hirst, one of the most celebrated contemporary artists, whose works propose a personal interpretation of past works, find their insight in science and their basis in art history. Relationships with life and death are being examined, and questions dealth to our cultural, artistic and philosophical ideals. * Works of Damien Hirst mirrored Marcel Duchampââ¬â¢s idea of the ââ¬Ëreadymadeââ¬â¢, that the concept is much more important than the outcome of the work itself, and that ordinary objects/subjects could be taken from everyday use and be used for art. Although Hirstââ¬â¢s works explores the themes of life and death, pathology and science, with the help of ââ¬Ëreadymadeââ¬â¢ objects, his works arouse a sense of spiritual enlightenment in the spectator, along with the notion of living forever, which compliments with the centenary of the museum. * With that, I will firstly talk about the idea of the ââ¬Ëreadymadesââ¬â¢, and how it is being used in the works that is being exhibited in Cornucopia. Next, I will be analyzing them, discussing the potential meaning behind the ââ¬Ëreadymadesââ¬â¢ to my proposed theme of spirituality and t he idea of living forever. Koons seduces and persuades the spectators with such works, and desire will ultimately be gone once the spectators looks at themselves and realize that they are desire itself. * * CONCLUSION * The use of ââ¬Ëreadymadesââ¬â¢ to promote or provoke an idea, a thought, is what Damien Hirst seeks out to achieve in the exhibition, Cornucopia. As it was held in accordance to the Oceanographic Museumââ¬â¢s 100th anniversary, Hirstââ¬â¢s artworks seek out to question its visitors, what has changed and what remained. Only by constant questioning will we improve and move forward. A sense of spiritual attainment and the idea of living forever can be felt whne looking at Hirstââ¬â¢s works, it evades time and seems to be stuck in limbo, allowing us to reflect on ourselves and our morality. As I have compared, the works of artist Jeff Koons also seeks to enlighten the viewers with his version of the ââ¬Ëreadymadesââ¬â¢. ââ¬ËReadymadesââ¬â¢ is an excellent way to provoke thinking and spreading message as everyday objects are familiar to the general consensus and people could relate better to them, rather then traditional symbols of art.

Princess Culture
In ââ¬Å"Cinderella and Princess Cultureâ⬠, by Peggy Orenstein, she guides us through her inner-debate on the true nature of princesses. Orenstein writes on what she calls a princess ââ¬Å"crazeâ⬠(326) and how major companies like Disney, Mattel, and Saks have joined in the frenzy to ensnare young girls with pink and sparkles. It is possible that Orenstein is trying to tell us that princesses themselves are not the problem; it is the marketing of princesses that has the potential to steal independence from young girls.Firstly, Orenstein reveals some of the eye-popping figures that companies have been making on princesses. Even with stringent competition from Mattel and Saks, Disney still tops the charts with an annual profit of ââ¬Å"$3 billion, globallyâ⬠(327). With a ââ¬Å"myriadâ⬠(327) of products pouring into the market, Orenstein claims that ââ¬Å"pink, it seems, is the new goldâ⬠(327). By pointing out all of the new products dealing with prince sses, perhaps Orenstein is attempting to draw attention to the sheer size of the princess ââ¬Å"crazeâ⬠(326) and how it is potentially detrimental to young girls because, if they only see princess toys, then their power to choose what they want has been diminished drastically.Orenstein worries openly about what exposing her daughter to stereotypes will do to her, wondering ââ¬Å"what playing Little Mermaid is teaching [her daughter]â⬠(327). Orenstein then moves on to reevaluate her feminist views, but feels that ââ¬Å"maybe [she is] still surfing a washed-out second wave of feminism in a third-wave world. Maybe princesses are in fact a sign of progressâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ (328). Perhaps Orenstein is trying to get readers to realize that being a princess could be a new form of feminism and independence for girls instead of a symbol of dependence.Orenstein gives readers the inside scoop on how the ââ¬Å"rise of Disney princesses reads like a fairy taleâ⬠(328) to furthe r investigate the influence the market has on young girls. Orenstein speaks to Andy Mooney, an employee at Disney, about the formation of the Disney Princess line. Mooney says that he saw that girls were already dressing as princesses and to create a specific line of Disney products was to ââ¬Å"ââ¬Ë[allow] these girls to do what theyââ¬â¢re doing anywayâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬â¢Ã¢â¬ (328).With Mooneyââ¬â¢s words, readers areà inclined to think that, if girls already want to be princesses, then there might be nothing wrong with the marketing of princesses after all. However, Orenstein then points out that, according to a survey by Girls Inc., ââ¬Å"school-age girls overwhelmingly [report] a paralyzing pressure to be ââ¬Ëperfectââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ (329). Orensteinââ¬â¢s statement brings the reader back to realizing the immense potential marketing has to take away independence from young girls, further solidifying Orensteinââ¬â¢s worry and mistrust of the commercial empires that have played a part in the rise of princesses. From the beginning, Orenstein appears critical of the princess ââ¬Å"crazeâ⬠(326) and the monstrous marketing machine that has risen up beside it. Orenstein wonders, however, whether or not being a princess is truly bad for a girlââ¬â¢s ability to remain independent, but this thought does not last. As Orensteinââ¬â¢s thoughts draw to a close, it is apparent that she has made no definite conclusions about princesses, marketing, and who is to blame. Perhaps readers can take away the thought that, even with the market still looming over girlsââ¬â¢ heads, there is still the potential to be an independent princess.

Machinal By Sophie Treadwell - 1891 Words
Sophie Treadwellââ¬â¢s Machinal is a strangely riveting play so filled with unlikable characters that it makes one want to scream and throttle which ever one is closest to hand without prejudice as to which persona it might be as they are all equally detestable in their own way. Unfortunately, the infuriating characters are exactly what make the play so fascinating. Each of the characters in the play, originally intended to display that life is an inescapable machine, exhibits many disturbing psychological qualities, and the main character suffers a slew of near textbook psychological misfortune. Many children with narcissistic parents may have grown up in both neglectful and verbally abusive situations, but Helenââ¬â¢s situation would have been compounded beyond that as she seems to have grown up with only her mother as a parental figure. This data that are stored on the cloud can be stole which assists in creating number of issues for the organization. It is analyzed that both the service providers as well as unauthorized users can access data as well as information that are stored within the architecture of cloud. If the service provider suddenly shuts down the service due to any type of technical issue, there is a chance of data loss, which is also considered as one of the significant issue. Solution: The data access procedure must be monitored properly in order to provide proper security as well as privacy to the cloud-based infrastructure. The various types of data issues can be resolved properly by utilizing proper monitoring approach in context cloud based service providers. The action of monitoring can be categorized into two different segments that include user end monitoring as well as provider end monitoring (Wei et al., 2014). These monitoring measures are ery much helpful in resolving various types of issues as well as functional problems that are related with various types of security issues within the cloud-based infrastructure. Secrecy Issues: It is analyzed that the system applications of cloud-based architecture face another important set of problems that include Secrecy issues. If the users are not able to provide proper security measures then the chances of security issues arises (Tao et al., 2014). One of the important tasks of the service provider is to ensure accurately that the users are protected properly when they are utilizing services from other service providers. Additionally, it is identified that there are number of servers, which are considered eternal, and as a result, they can be easily accessed with the help of any user. Due to this reason, the privacy of the users is hampered as their data is accessed with the help of third party. Solutions: The secrecy issues within cloud-based applications can be solved by utilizing control of consumer access to various devices. Different types of applications as well as gadgets are generally utilized within the infrastructure of cloud where various types of malicious codes are injected within the network (Toosi, Calheiros Buyya, 2014). It causes deployment of different types of hacking issues that further helps in diminishing both the flexibility as well as capability o network in context to various needs as well as requirements of the users. Infected Applications: It is identified that more than one application are generally combined with the help of cloud computing server and therefore numerous chances of occurring various types of malicious codes within different application assists in harming both the devices as well as functional operations within the network architecture (Moreno-Vozmediano, Montero Llorente, 2013). If the users are not capable of controlling as well as monitoring various applications then it will create number of problems. The users of cloud service architecture faces number of challenges due to the introduction of unauthorized users within the network architecture of the organization. Therefore it is very much important for the providers to serve the customers properly by utilizing appropriate choices of security measures in context to various malicious attacks within various cloud based applications as well as services. Therefore, it is very much important to have proper as well as appropriate verified access that helps in restricting unauthorized the access of the users by managing as well as maintain the security related infrastructure of the cloud-based services appropriately. In contrast with this fact, it is very much important for the provider to check the verification of the users appropriately before the data as well as information are modified within cloud based network architecture (Khan et al., 2013). It is analyzed that verification of access control is very much helpful in managing various types of unwanted access to different cloud based information of data. Security Issues: It is identified that security related challenges are divided into two significant level of operations, which are provider level, as well as user level. The various types of external threats are generally attacked with the help of the server that causes the attacks within the infrastructure of cloud network (LD Krishna, 2013). Sometimes, the service providers of cloud helps in offering secured cloud service. However, there are numerous chances of network infection from the users end as they are not concerned about the security as well as privacy of cloud-based infrastructure. Solutions: The security issues or challenges that mainly occur within the organization can be resolved easily by utilizing security check events. This not only helps in resolving the issues that are associated with cloud architecture but also helps in resolving problems that are occurring due to cyber attacks (Gai, Tao Zhu, 2015). Therefore, by utilizing various security check events, malicious codes as well as users are detected in context to various cloud security measures that generally involved within the various network infrastructures that generally resulted into the adoption as well as development of cloud based system architecture within the SoftArc Engineering Company.
